Tour description
The tour starts at bus stop A/B near the railway station in Flåm and continues through 2 tunnels (Flenjatunnelen 5 km and Gudvangatunnelen 11,4 km) before we get to the valley Nærøydalen and Gudvangen.
Stalheimskleivi
The tour then takes you to Stalheim Hotel and Stalheimskleivi through the narrow and impressive valley Nærøydalen with high steep mountains that rise up on both sides. Stalheim and Stalheimskleivi have been a favorite destination for tourists for over 150 years, and the view from the hotel has been a motif in the paintings of several well-known Norwegian painters. When the road Stalheimskleivi was completed in 1845, it was known to be a masterpiece in Norwegian road construction. Enjoy the view from the hotel garden for a few minutes before starting the walk down the Stalheimskleivi.
Sivlefossen and Stalheimsfossen Waterfalls
You will then have the opportunity to walk down Stalheimskleiva, a descent of about 250 meters that takes around 30 minutes to walk. The road winds between two beautiful waterfalls — Sivlefossen and Stalheimsfossen — and along the way, you’ll get a close-up view of Sivlefossen.Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes, as the path can be steep in places.
The Viking Valley - Njardarheimr
Back at the bus, the tour takes you to Viking Valley, where we make a 45 minute stop.
Visitors can walk among traditional wooden buildings, meet modern-day Vikings dressed in historically inspired clothing, and learn about the customs, skills, and beliefs that shaped Norse culture. Every detail, from the architecture to the activities, is designed to reflect how people truly lived over a thousand years ago.
At Njardarheimr, history isn’t just displayed — it’s lived. The village offers a rare chance to step back in time, surrounded by breathtaking fjord landscapes that once guided the seafaring Vikings themselves.
Entrance fee is not included.
Undredal
After the stop at The Viking Valley, we continue to Undredal. Undredal is a small village by the fjord, and has only just under 60 inhabitants. The village is best known for its award-winning goat cheese and the stave church from 1150 which is the smallest stave church in Scandinavia still in use. Undredal is usually a quiet small village where it is possible to walk around and enjoy the scenery, have a look at the small stave church, visit the small country store where you also can buy local food from the area and local products from Undredal. Did you know they have ice-cream and chocolate with a taste of goat cheese? There are also opportunities for cheese tasting at the local restaurant by the fjord, but be aware that your time is limited.
After a 20 minute stop in Undredal, we start our journey back to Flåm.
The organizer may cancel the tour if the number of places sold is less than 4 pax.
